Q: I’ve never made a font before, can I join?
A: Yes of course! We will be going through all the necessary steps for you to make your own professional font.
Q: Is this an online course?
A: Yes! You can join from anywhere in the world. All teaching videos are pre-recorded and will be released on a weekly basis starting from the Cohort Start date. Take advantage of the Group Learning and Mentored models for Live Coaching and Mentoring sessions, especially if you’re based in Asia, because all calls are after work hours in the evening, GMT+8.
Q: Do I get access to the full course or is it week by week?
A: This is a drip-release version of the course, hence modules will only be released on a weekly basis. Stuck with a technique? Watch the replays of the video classes and start over once the video has been released.
Q: Is this for Latin fonts only?
A: Yes, this course is focused on Western European Latin languages (yes that includes English), your basic upper- and lowercase, and everything beyond like punctuations and diacritics. We will not cover Indic scripts or CJK (Chinese Japanese Korean) scripts as part of this course, but look out for these in the future!
Q: Will italics be covered?
A: Font styles like Italics, and Connected Scripts are not included. Courses on these topics will follow at a later date.
Q: Do I need Glyphs Mini or Glyphs 3?
A: You can use both versions, though multiple weights, variable fonts, and some plugins are only available with Glyphs 3. Don’t worry though, you’ll get a 4-month FULL Glyphs 3 License together with your course enrolment!
Q: How long will I have access to the course?
A: Community pricing gives you access to complete the course within 6 months via SKOOL, which you will have complimentary Membership for 6 Months. If you wish to have continued / extended access, please write to hello@relayroom.com for us to share upgrade options for your access. Monthly membership will apply at the prevailing rate + lifetime access fee for the course materials.
For Group & Mentored, you will get lifetime membership to SKOOL and hence lifetime access the recordings and calls of the classes after each week’s lesson is over via SKOOL. We’ll keep the material up as long as it is relevant to the Glyphs software.
